#1 LA BELLE EQUIPE #Pizza

ree

Pizza bar located along the Brussels canal, La Belle équipe probably serves some of the bests pizze in the city. Their products are often directly imported from Italy without intermediaries, which make their pizza full of savor. Mozzarella di Bufala, Coppa, ruccola or pork rinds, everything for a high quality and good prices. I love the atmosphere out there, and everyone eats at the same long table. Perfect for lunch!

  • Margherita - €10

  • 4 Formaggi - €14

  • Bufala - €15

Location: Antoine Dansaert, 202

#2 LE SELECTO #ModernBistro

ree

Here is a place where I sometimes go with my parents because it is one of our favorite! Le Selecto is a modern bistro that will certainly satisfy your tastebuds! The menu changes often and I can assure you that anything you'll order there will be delicious. If you are a wine lover then you will be served! The sommelier Jerome will be pleased to find the perfect wine fitting your dishes.

Trio menu composed with a starter, a dish, and a desert, the price is 44€.

Duo menu composed with either starter & dish, either dish & desert, it costs 33€.

The restaurant is in the Rue de Flandre, 95. You better book a table beforehand.

#3 MAKISU #Sushis

ree

If you live in Brussels, there is no way that you don't know Makisu. And if you come from somewhere else, then you, sushi lover, need to run there. Usually, sushis are expensive and as a student, I know it is not possible to pay 25€ every time you want to eat out. At Makisu, you will pay around 5,50€ for 8 sushis, and that doesn't make them less good! You can also eat Donburi (rice bowls), shrimp tempura's and edamame. I would not recommend a group of 10 people to eat there for dinner because the place is not that big, but it's perfect for a date for example. Possibility to order by telephone or online.

8 pieces sushis: 4,75 - 6,25€

Donburi: 7,50 - 9,25€

#4 MARU #Korean

Boris and his Korean wife Kyky propose this surprising spot that I recommend 100%.

On the menu, the famous dish Bibimbap (15€), a speciality with raw beef, egg yolk, rice and vegetables. You will also find there Jabchae (13€), a sweet potatoes noodles starter and Yukhwe (16€), dish made of beef tartare and raw pear strips. As dessert, the Sesame ice cream (6€) is a must-try! And if you come in the evening, be prepared to see the barbecue coming at your table and the food cooked in front of you!

For drinks? Natural wine, beers and sake.

The restaurant is located on the Chaussée de Waterloo, 510.

#5 PISTOLET ORIGINAL #Pistolets

ree

Here is a unique lunch spot! If you do not know it, a Pistolet is a typical Brussels variety of bread consisting of a small and round bread roll. The crust is usually hard and crispy, while the inside of the roll is soft. Pistolet original proposes a high variety of fillings, all of great quality and Belgian origin.

Locations:

Joseph Stevensstraat, 24 (Sablon)

Beenhouwersstraat, 44 (Galeries)

#6 LA CRECHE DES ARTISTES #Italian

Initially located in Ixelles, and now extended at a second spot near the canal of Brussels, this restaurant has existed for 25 years. Their secret is a traditional Italian menu with fresh products and wine exported directly from Italy. There is nothing much to expect from this place, except a fabulous dinner.

For the starter: Scarmoza, Mushrooms stuffed with Mozzarella, Antipasto or Carpaccio of tuna/salmon/beef. They cost between 11€ and 16€.

For the main course: Tortellini, Rigatoni & risotto, that cost between 12€ and 25€.

I recommend this place for the warm atmsophere that hasn't changed, knowing my parents are going there for ages!

The locations:

Ixelles - Rue de la crèche, 21

Canal - Quai des péniches, 62

#7 BÅGL #Bagel

This one is a small restaurant in the shopping center Docks Bruxsel, it is the perfect place for a healthy shopping break! Their bagels are very good and the service is fast.

I find them a bit overpriced, +/- 7€, but the ingredients are fresh and of good quality.

Location: Quai des Usines 163/82, Shopping District Docks Bruxsel

#6 UMAMIDO #Ramen

ree

Umamido is a nice ramen restaurant located at three different spots in the city. Their menu is not that varied because they prefer to focus on the quality. Their prices are quite cheap (ramen, 13€ and +/- 5€ starters) and I find it a nice place to have lunch.

Locations:

Place Sainte-Catherine, 1

Chaussée de Vleurgat, 1

Rue du Bailli, 14

#9 L'EXPRESS #Lebanese

According to my Lebanese best friend, this restaurant serves the best Lebanese food in Brussels! They propose a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals that really is to try.

Cold starters like Hommos, Moutabal, Labneh or Fattouch cost from 5 to 9€

Hot starters: 1,5€/falafel, 3,50€/3p Kafta, 7€ for Haloumi, 12€ for Hommos lahme, ...

For the main course, they serve 3 types of Mezze to share for two people (20/25/45€).

#10 KABUKI #Japanese

Kabuki is a Japanese Restaurant and the thing I love about it is their « all-you-can-eat » formula. You can also seat at a table and ask for the classical menu, but I totally recommend you to choose the other formula and watch the food parading on a small train in front of you! The "A la carte" formula is very varied, they propose noodles, meats, sushis, California rolls, soups, ... With the "All you can eat" dinner, there are sushis, miso soups, fried food and different kinds of appetizers. I recommend you to book a table, especially for dinners. The address is Rue du Marché aux Poulets, 32

- All you can eat (Lunch): 14,90€

- All you can eat (Dinner): 24,50€

#11 GREEN MANGO BURGER #Burger #Smoothie #Cocktails

Are you craving for a tasty burgers and for a fresh smoothie at the same time? Then Green Mango is what you are looking for! I found this place on a Check Food Youtube video and was surprised by the concept. Their menu contains no less than 30 sorts of burgers, with either beef, chicken, or fish inside. Prices can go from 11,40€ for a classic cheeseburger to 15,50€ for a chicken burger with avocado, mozzarella, ham and grilled vegetables. For the people with a giant stomach, there are burger with 2 to 6 pieces of beef! Those cost from 15,50 to 30€. With that, there is a huge variety of fresh smoothies (7€) and cocktails (9,90€).

These burgers will definitely make you happy, plus in my experience it is the best spot ever for a Hangover meal ;)

Locations:

Chaussée de Vleurgat, 142

Parvis de Saint-Gilles, 28

Rue de la Paix, 51

Similar to Makisu, Makifornia serves mostly California rolls for good prices. I must say they use original ingredients on their sushis that make them very tasty. For example mango, honey or apple, but no worries they also have the classics. The location is not ideal, so my advice is to buy to eat out and go sit to a nice place in the city. Here is a picture of a Makifornia dinner on St Catherine Square last summer... It was the best!

Prices:

*Rolls* 4,50-8€ for 8 pieces

*Maki* 4,20-4,70€ for 6 pieces

*Plate 32 pieces* 22,90-24,90€

Address: Avenue de Stalingrad, 45

ree

Let me introduce you to another incredible Pizza & Pasta restaurant. MiTo comes from Milano Torino, so you might find the restaurant under that name as well. Also made with 100% Italian products, their dishes are absolutely delicious. You will pay around 16-18€ for a pizza or plate of pasta.

They serve diverse cocktails, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they come with a plate of Italian specialities!

rue Washington, 151-153 (Bruxelles Tenbosch)

place Henri Barbusse, 9 (Levallois)

rue Darwin, 62 (Bruxelles Brugmann)

#14 AVOCADO SHOW #ForAvocadoLovers

Already mentioned in my article for food spots in Amsterdam, this one will make happy all avocado lovers! The concept is simple: every dish, from drinks to deserts, contains avocado. There Avocado burger, with a whole avocado to replace the bun, is a must order! Although the food is quite expensive, we already know that avocados are not cheap and this address is to try at least once. However, if you do have the occasion, I advice you to try the Avocado show in Amsterdam instead of Brussels because the atmosphere is much nicer and the prices a bit lower.

ree

Prices:

*Avocado burger* 16,90€

* Dip Nachos with guacamole* 9,90€

*Avocado & salmon poke bowl* 16,90€

*Toasts* +/- 11€

*Pancakes* +/- 13€

*Homemade lemonade* 3,90€

Address: Anspach, 66

#15 MY TANNOUR #Syrian

ree

Completely different than the rest of the addresses in this articles, My Tannour is a really nice place to discover Syrian food. I had never tasted anything similar and my friends and I were very convinced! A tannour is a Syrian bread filled with meat or falafel and vegetables. There are several interesting formula's:

- 1 Tannour + 1 side + 1 soft drink = 9,50€

- 1 Tannour + 1 side + 1 soft drink + 1 dessert = 13€

- 2 Tannours + 1 soft drink = 10,50€

I chose falafels as side but you can also pick grilled corn, salad, soup or roasted potatoes.

On the picture it is not a Tannour but a "plate" composed of vegetables, Syrian bread and falafel/meat of your choice.

Great place for dinner in town with friends, especially during summer because there is a nice terrace but you can expect to queue for +/- 10 minutes outside.

Rue de la Brasserie, 98

Hope this article gave you some new food addresses to try!
