LET'S GO OUT IN DAM!

You cannot come in Amsterdam without going to a bar or a club. So just for you, I've reunited all my bests spots and hope you'll be tempted. I'm particularly obsessed with Techno and House music events but I've tried to make this article for all tastes :)

Melkweg

It's one of the most famous club in town because it offers events for very different sorts of music. I have already told you about Techno Tuesday and its free entree in this article and there are jazz events every Sunday (10€), Reggaeton parties, HipHop, Pop music events, as well as tons of concerts every week. Entries for regular parties cost more or less 15€. I highly recommend you to check their Facebook pages for the events because it can vary a lot, and plan 2€ for the locker (you can also pay by card). Btw if you were wondering, Melkweg means milky way :)

Lijnbaansgracht, 234A

Alto Jazz Bar

Fans of Jazz music, this one is for you! Alto is a tiny tiny bar in the Leidseplein area with live concerts everyday. Really nice ambience! Entry sometimes paying on Saturdays (€5). Korte Leidsedwarsstraat, 115

Thuishaven

Because there is no best feeling than the one of escaping in a festival, Thuishaven enables you to live a Techno-House festival every week-end, no regards to the weather or even to your tight budget. How come? Well, it won't cost you more than 20€ for a 10H set! Be careful though, because drinks are super expensive out there.

Waterkant

This is a bar located at the water's edge, I find it very cosy inside and the tables outside are just perfect to enjoy the sun while having a drink!

Marnixstraat, 246

Claire

Claire is probably my favorite club in Amsterdam, probably because it's the only good House/Techno music club that allow people younger than 21 sometimes. It's quite a small club with a very nice atmosphere. Check their Facebook events for more info and plan around 15€ for an entree and 2€ for the locker. The address is Rembrandtplein, 17 but for some reasons, the club is not located on Rembrandtplein but on the other side, along the Amstel.

Biertuin

This one is a bar located on Prinsengracht, and I like it because it feels a bit like being in a greenhouse inside. They have long wood tables perfect to share a moment with a big group of friends!

Disco Dolly

Disco Dolly is a funk club in the city center, cool place to dance or have a drink. The music is quite varied and the entry costs less than 10€ which is quite cheap for a club in Ams! It is open every day of the week from 10pm, but I advice you not to arrive too late during the weekend because you might have to wait for a while in the queue.

Bitterzoet

It's no more than a casual club with Hip-hop music events, sometimes concerts. Nice if you just want to dance but don't know where to go ;) Entry usually costs around 12€.

Spuistraat, 2 HS

Gollem

As a Belgian girl, I couldn't miss that one. They have several location in Amsterdam and propose a large variety of beers, especially Belgian ones. It's a welcoming spot!

Pllek

Pllek is the definition of a chill place, especially during summer. It’s located on the other side of Ij, so you must take the ferry to NDSM to reach it. Currently, there is an outdoor cinema night (7,50€) every Tuesday, and some other events like yoga lessons or parties, organized every week. Be tempted by a drink on their beach or a good dinner inside the hangar while listening to live music! More info on their FB page.

De School

De School is a 24 hours licensed club, welcoming amazing House and Techno artists.

I've never been able to enter there because they are pretty serious about their 21+ policy, but I can't wait to be old enough! No need to have a incredible look out there, just come in a chill outfit and you will be good!

It's also a restaurant, a café and a gym offering boxing lessons, I tried them for a few weeks during my gap year and really enjoyed the environment.

The Poolbar

Casual bar in which you can play pool, drink beers for a reasonable price and chat with the friendly staff!

Voetboogstraat, 3-B

Radio radio

This one is situated in the middle of Westerpark. Small spot on a two floors house and there sometimes are very good Dj’s. Great point: the entry is free! They often post the Soundcloud account of the artist playing on the FB event, so I advice you to check this out before going :)

Pazzanistraat, 3

Bierfabriek

Very original concept: You order whatever beer you like and can enjoy it eating peanuts. Don't worry about the shells, everyone just leave them on the floor! I like the place because it really looks like a beer factory with the machinery around.

Nes, 67

De TonTon club

It is a air hockey and gaming club, (also named Puck) with an incredible retro atmosphere. Neon lights, arcade games, everything to make you feel in the 80s.

The token for the games cost €1 for a piece and €5 for 6.

They are closed for the summer 2019 but usually open from 1pm to 1am at their location in West (Polonceaukade, 27), and from 4pm to midnight in the center (Sint Annendwarsstraat, 6).

Shelter

This is another club with high quality line-up. Like De School, it's 21+ allowed but it's definitely a club to try. It is located on the other side of the IJ, in Amsterdam Noord so you will need to take the ferry. The prices vary from a first release (around 10€) to a second, a third release and then tickets at the door that usually cost a bit less than 20€.

Foeders

Great bar to try special beers. If you don’t know what to choose, the bartender will be happy to help you! Like at BierFabriek, there are peanuts all over the place ;)

Paradiso

This is a venue in a former Church throwing parties, concerts and other kind of entertaining events. As a club, the Dj's play Hip-hop and Pop music, check their Facebook pages to know what's happening!

De Ceuvel

De Ceuvel is more than a café, it is a whole organization determined to make the place sustainable in any way possible. The design of the place is super imaginative and has won several awards since 2014. The café in the middle of the area has an awesome character and all products used there are organic, sustainable and fairtrade.

Around it, there are other spots made for workshops, meetings, or spaces that can be rented for private events. You also have the possibility to rent a boat and dine, lunch, drink on it. Reservation with the staff at bookings@deceuvel.nl

Bloemenbar

This one is located right next to Disco Dolly, so I would say it's the perfect place if you want to have drink before dancing! The ambience is really chill. Just a simple, originally decorated bar. Handboogstraat, 1

Garage Noord

Garage Noord exists only since summer 2017 and is a small place with quite good music! It is a restaurant in garage that turns into a club at night. The best thing to do is to check their events of FB because you might find something great. It's open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Gedempt Hamerkanaal, 40

Chupitos bar

This is a shot bar, with more shot varieties than you can count! With fire, candies and spices, it's more about a show than a simple shot! One shot costs 2,50-3,50-4,50€, however there isn't usually enough alcohol. The music is commercial but the entree is free and I love choosing a shot name without knowing what to expect!

Zieseniskade, 25

Escape

It's a large club on the Rembrandt plein with commercial and HipHop music. It's not bad and the entree is usually not too expensive but it is not the first club I would got to because it's often crowded and not my favorite music genre. Of course it depends on your tastes!
