Whenever I have friends visiting for the week-end, I always look weeks and weeks before for activities to do and nice places to eat. Amsterdam is absolutely full with cosy breakfast spots, and whether you are in town for a few days or more, you need to try some of those! Here are 12 great locations to have a brunch.

BAKERS AND ROASTERS

Bakers and Roasters has now become my favorite place for brunch! The people there are sooo sweet which is not always the case! We all know how annoying it is to feel like we are disturbing the waitress, well that's not a problem out there! Moreover, the food is good and you certainly get what you pay for!

I also liked that free water was being served during our whole visit, and we didn't have to wait long for being served.

  • 10€ for a mountain of blueberry pancakes (2€ added for bacon on them)

  • 8.50€ for a granola bowl

  • 12.50€ for a savory plate of eggs on a tortilla with avocado, sausage, and beans

Practical info:

You might have to wait 20-30 minutes because the place is crowded, so you put your name on a list and get a text when it's your turn.

Kadijksplein, 16 (Center) // Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat 54 (East)

BENJI'S

Here is a place that I discovered on Instagram through #breakfastamsterdam!

I find it soooo cute and I recommend it for brunch, especially if you don't want to eat a heavy meal.

Prices are a bit high but the atmosphere and the food design are worth the trip.

I went there with my friends from Belgium and we all ordered very different things.

  • Goat-cheese, honey, figs & blueberries toast: 8,50€

  • Quinoa salad with humus, avocado, chickpeas, falafel: 12€

  • Mango smoothie bowl with terrific granola, coconut flakes, fruits: 10€

  • Charbon bread burger with meat, vegetables, chips: 11€

Practical info:

Until 10am, you can book a table and I recommend to do it because it's often full, and otherwise it is a matter of 20 minutes waiting :)

PLUK

For brunch or for an afternoon break, Pluk is a cosy address that I advice you to try if you haven't yet! They have a high variety of toasts, cakes and unicorn bowls!

Reestraat, 19 // Berenstraat, 19

WICKED WAFFLES

Wicked waffles, (it used to be called Brunchroom) is a breakfast/lunch restaurant with almost only waffles on the menu! They claim to serve the best baked waffles of Amsterdam, and I have to say, I haven't eat better ones yet! Their waffles are vegan and gluten free, and you can choose among no less than 30 toppings.

The negative side is that I find it quite expensive for waffles: 7.95€ without any toppings, which are for 0.99, 1.99 or 2.99€

Special mention for the hot chocolate! I think it was the best one I had in my entire life!

Czaar Peterstraat, 74

MOAK PANCAKES

ree

Craving for pancakes? Then your choice is made! In my opinion their 100% organic wheat flour pancakes are the bests in town! They are served with generous portion of fruits, maple syrup , coconut flakes, chocolate sauce, peanut butter, or even bacon.

Have them with a fresh juice or a mint tea for a perfect breakfast. If you are not the pancake type of person (I don't know how that's even possible!), then no worries, you can try a yogurt bowl, or an avocado sides.

l Pancakes: 8.50 - 14€ l

l Avocado sides: +/- 5€ l

l Fresh Juice: +/- 4€ l

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

I have to admit that this place is not the first one I would recommend people to go to. The food was good, but the staff absolutely unpleasant and really felt like we were bothering the waitress when asking for ordering. However, the menu is varied and suggests different kinds of breakfast: a typical English Breakfast with eggs, sausages, beans, tomatoes; a New York breakfast with buttermilk pancakes and honeycomb butter (it is butter made of real honeycomb); and a Mexican breakfast with tortilla, eggs, avocado, jalapenõs and cheddar.

If you can't find your happiness among those 3, there are different kind of pancakes, sandwiches, pies, cereals.

London breakfast - 12€

New York breakfast - 13€

Mexico City breakfast - 13€

CORNER BAKERY

Out there, you’ll make the child in you more than happy! Sugar and colors are the key words and if you woke up with a big hunger you won’t be disappointed…

French toasts, Red Velvet pancakes, Acai bowls, toasts, salads... there is something to suits all tastes!

That crazy milkshake on the picture (don't even want to know how much calories it contains) is amazing. However, it costs 10€, which is not negligible :)

Most of the plates cost also 10€, the classic milkshakes 7€ and salads and toasts from 8€ to 12€.

There are three locations in Amsterdam:

- Jan Pieter Heijestraat, 131(Oud West)

- Kon. Wilhelminaplein, 60-62 (Nieuw West)

- Johannes Vermeerstraat, 40 (Oud De Pijp)

OAKS

Oaks is a very cute place located in the East area of Amsterdam. The menu is quite simple, they serve American pancakes, eggs, toasts and paninis. However, there are sorts of pancakes that I had never seen in Amsterdam, like Red Velvet Pancakes, Snickers pancakes (if you love chocolate, I really recommend you those) and Greek style pancakes. You can also create your own pancakes by choosing among several toppings (bacon, maple syrup, fruits, granola, peanut butter, …). It is the same system for the omelets on which you can put avocado, spinach, feta, bacon or grilled vegetables. I recommend this address because it is calm, the atmosphere is nice and we eat for quite democratic prices.

Red Velvet pancakes 10,90€

Snickers pancakes 9,50€

Greek style pancakes 8,50€

Create your pancake 6,90€ + toppings for 1/1,50€

Eggs 5,90€ + toppings for 0,50/1/1,50€

Address:

Dapperplein, 36

GREENWOODS

This place is also an excellent address for a big brunch. You will get out of this place with a full stomach and certainly a smile on your face. I tried their banana bread, which was absolutely delicious, and it comes with a generous portion of fresh fruits and their specialty: homemade white chocolate mascarpone. I paid 11,50€ for that, and the sweets menu also proposes pancakes for 14,95€ and a yoghurt bowl with granola and fresh fruits for 7,95€.

On the savory side of the cart, there are different types of breakfast combos with eggs, bacon, or avocado, pancakes, toasts. They cost around 14€.

Greenwoods a nice terrace which I could not enjoy because it was too cold, but during summer, you need to have a reservation because the place is often full.

Keizersgracht, 465

Bon appétit! :)
